Cale has seen enough “once-in-a-generation” economic collapses to know the system isn’t broken; it’s working exactly as intended for the people at the top. He believes in the radical idea that a person’s worth shouldn’t be determined by their proximity to capital, and is disgusted by the current crop of “patriots” who think freedom means the right to pick your own dictator. He’s seen the “will of the people” ignored too many times and decided to stop being polite about it and start fighting to ensure this country actually belongs to the people who live in it.
